October 16th, 2004 - Dark Piss!
Just watched a Japanese movie called Dark Water with Icecuq...
Dark Water
Wow! My expectations were considerable, since Iceduck had told me that one of his friends girlfriend had found this movie extremely scary. Even though that was a chick, then I still thought there would be some spooky stuff to be found in this.
I was wrong.
The first hour and a half is spend on building up the characters of the movie, which is a divorced mother who struggles with keeping her daugthers custody, while her former husband tries to get the custody. Meanwhile the mother and her daugther finds a place to live, she gets her daugther into a new school and everything is all swell and dandy! Until the stains in the ceiling starts appearing! Its so amazingly scary! I gotta admit that, Ive always had a weak spot for stains in the ceiling, especially when you put some scary music over it! Oh damn Im gonna have nightmares about it!
Anyway, strange things start happening, water everywhere, and a little girl appears all over the place. The movie sort of uses the general horror movie element of getting us amped up to a big confrontation where you get totally spooked, but instead trying to keep you interested it just goes on with the same boring sequences where nothing happens for the first 1 hour and 30 minutes. Then when theres finally happening something then its just weak and so grotesquely
not scary.
Its so very sad to sit and watch and entire movie for 2 hours and expect something good, and then just be left with a totally braindead and unimaginative set of events. Its so extremely predictable that you dont even just get surprised.
Ive been talking way too much about something not worth mentioning, so let my just give you a warning: Dont watch this movie (unless you want to waste your time).
And by the way, this movie is actually worse than Scary Movie 3 (believe it or not)

October 15th, 2004 - Fling!
Update time! Im taking the day tomorrow off so I can help Iceduck with moving some stuff in his old apartment (that hes now sold). Anyway, Im kind of behind in stuff Ive seen and played so here is go time!!! *BLING*
THX 1138
I've been interested in checking this movie out for quite a while now, so I finally pulled myself together and got the recently released DVD. Anyway, this movie
handles a topic that is kind of overused in alot of movies. Im talking of this kind of Orwellian Big Brother society where everybody is being watched and controlled. The story isnt that interesting, the style of the movie is however. Considering that this wasnt that big a production, then I think they did a quite good job at having a style that both inspires your imagination about the world in which the movie takes place, but also has a really cool style that is established throughout the movie.
THX 1138 is more interesting because its the first real professional work by George Lucas, and that does give it some deserved attention, but having that said, then its still a quite cool and interesting movie, although not terribly original today.
Also the extra material on the DVD is really good, some cool insightful documentaries in birth of modern Hollywood, and some neat features on the film.

The Sims 2
Its time to play with your dolls! :D! It is quite funny when you see how many people instantly think its gay to play The Sims, and in some ways then I can understand some of these remarks, but the way I look upon The Sims is more as an RPG rather than a dollhouse simulator. The element Ive always found interesting in The Sims is getting a better job and getting your skills and house worked up, and at this the game works really well.
Anyway, The Sims 2 is pretty much the same concept as with the first game, even though there has been added some new gameplay features, such as the fact that your characters now have wants and fears. These work in a point system, where accomplishing wants will gain you points, and accomplishing fears will remove points. These points can then be used for items that will make your life alot easier such as a money tree :). Anyway, theres also this gene thing where your offsprings now actually share the DNA of their parents, and therefore has a similar appearance and personality marks. This is a quite neat feature, and it does help you into wanting to check out how your kids will look and act. They have also added a new age system where your Sim will go through an entire life, and will also eventually die.
The gameplay does work quite well for the most part. It is fun to try to get that neat new job, or just expand your family, and getting everything spread out. However, like in the first game then it also tends to get a bit repetitve at times, and it does have a tendency to get a tad boring from time to time. These moments are however quite rare, and for the most part theres enough stuff to fiddle with like buying more stuff :D!
But one of the first things that striked me about The Sims 2 was the visuals. This game looks awesome, without ever looking overpuffed. All the characters and objects in the world are extremely detailed, and also the updated lighting system makes your house feel alot more real. Also the interface and menu's are really cool, overall just top quality stuff.
The audio side of the game is high quality stuff as well. Your characters still talk in this strange mumbling language, which somehow still sounds kind of believable. Also the music is very well done and suits the game very well.
Overall this is just a really well done game with premium production values. The gameplay isnt perfect, but it does fit a wide range of players, and Im sure theres something interesting for every RPG or Strategy fan out there.

October 12th, 2004 - Katamari!
Heh, I saw a guy playing this really fucked up game at work today, and since I was just leaving then I didnt get a good look at it, but then I checked out something about when I came home, and it looks totally brilliant! Check this, pure genius!
Anyway, been playing a bit of System, Shock 2 lately, which is quite funny since they just announced Bioshock, new game from the people behind System Shock 2 (its not a sequel mind you). Anyway, good stuff, a good game that I havent had another playthrough for ages now.
Oh yah, I got a secondary TFT monitor at work today
:D! Also got a funky Wacom board, quite nice, now my desk actually looks kind of nice :)
17 days!
October 10th, 2004 - 20 DAYS!
New San Andreas preview on Gamespot! MORE PWNAGE! :D
October 9th, 2004 - ChaChaCha!
Lots of stuff going on at the moment (not really, but I like to pretend that there is :D). First off then we're been playing the Men of Valor Multiplayer demo quite a bit at work, really neat stuff, looks superb and plays quite cool too. Been getting quite excited about this game, even though I used to think that it was just another mediocre Vietnam game in the endless sea of Vietnam war games D:
Anyway, Ive also gotten my new mouse and keyboard. I decided that It would be for the best if I just got a new keyboard and mouse instead of the stuff that I got with my computer, so I ordered a Logitech MX510 and the exact same Logitech keyboard I got at work. I just want stuff with high functionality, and I know that these things work. Anyway, its working out very well, Im really glad I pulled myself together and did it.
Also, a new Battlefield Vietnam patch has been released. I just had a play through it, and IT FUCKING R0X0RZ!!!! Ahem, as usual, more pwnage. Theres like 8 new vehicles and aircrafts, and 3 new levels. I forsee that I shall play some more BFV in the weekend :)
And Ive also given the new bonus pack for Unreal Tournament 2004 a go. It adds some really nice vehicles, and some really cool maps as well, check that too :)
Theres more stuff, but I'll update later or something :)~
October 4th, 2004 - Kingles!
Just ordered a new mouse and keyboard. I havent really told about this yet, but the scrollwheel on the mouse that came with the computer is EXTREMELY annoying, and instead of having like clicks of scrolling, its just one smooth action, which like takes ages to scroll with (and yeah, Ive adjusted the scroll speed). Anyway, Ive ordered a new Logitech mouse which looks quite funky.
Also, Ive ordered a new keyboard since the key placement around the arrow keys on the one I got with the computer is totally fucked up, and also because its an english keyboard, but mainly because of the key placement.
Anyway, good stuff, it should arrive soon.
Also I havent mentioned that I bought the THX 1138 DVD, really neat stuff and extra material, mazzle review on that soon.
October 2nd, 2004 - Juggles?
I completed the Call of Duty expansion pack yesterday...
Call of Duty: United Offensive
Alot of people are getting very tired of the World War 2 theme in first person shooters, and Im no exception. It is a VERY overdone gerne, and its starting to get very tiresom indeed. Anyway, the original Call of Duty was a pretty good game that had some nice action and some quite memorable moments.
Anyway, here comes the expansion pack for Call of Duty. It basically continues in the COD tradition with having you play as soldiers from different Allied factions of WW2. You start of as the Americans, in the forests of Bastogne (Belgium), in what is extremely inspired from Band of Brothers. It does a really job at this, with some quite interesting first missions, but already with the last mission of the Bastogne campaign the shooter stuff starts to wear a bit thin when you're gunning down half the german army. Anyway, the next campaign is through the eyes of a British gunner on a flying fortress. Some really good variation in the form of shooting down planes. However, the plane you're in is shot down and you parachute down to be met by some resistance fighters that you join to blow up a bridge. Then after this you somehow suddenly change from being a simple gunner on a plane to be some commando soldier that has to blow up a base ala the one found in The Guns of Navarone. Its just too weak, couldnt they have made you play another character instead of having this 1 man army changing around to some heavy duty commando in no time? Blah! Anyway, you end everything with going on as a Russian soldier where you walk through a shitload of ruins like the ones you went through in the original COD.
I dont know, but I just didnt enjoy COD:UO. It was standard shooter action that I usually accept, but it just felt very boring. The few variations in the gameplay (such as the shooting planes part, and driving in a tank) didnt do that much for me. The fact that you slaugther around 1-2000 soldiers through out the game does make the shooting part very boring, and the game is all about shooting (that equals boredom in case you were wondering). Anyway, the graphics are okay, the sound is okay, and the gameplay is allround medicore. An average expansion pack for a good game.
By the way, notice how much the title "United Offensive" actually reminds of Medal of Honors title "Allied Assault" :)
(I wrote way too much there lol wtf? :D)

October 1st, 2004 - Biggles?
Its been a little while since I updated, but Ive been kind of busy, and too tired and lazy to update the site when I was home. Anyway, now that its weekend then I thought it would be in place to update :)
First off, new 3DMark05 has been released, good stuff.
Also, under 1 month left for San Andreas release, its starting to get exciting :D!
Oh and theres alot of Half-Life 2 review stuff going around, apparently it scored 96% in PC Gamer, even though the game isnt out, and probably wont be out for another couple of months (silly mags).
Okay, I thought I might as well get this over, even though I doubt its even necessary at this point (everybody with a decent taste in games already have it), but here it goes...
Burnout 3: Takedown
This is the best arcade racing game ever created. Period.
This game has some of the most amazing action ever experienced in a game. The most obvious observation is that the crashes look totally mindblowing, but in general then the game just looks totally amazing.
The gameplay is pure genius, although the infernal Time Attack mode does tend to get a tad annoying sometimes. Also most of the music is pretty crappy. But apart from these minor points then you should get this game NOW. And if you dont have a PS2 or and Xbox, then you should simply buy one just to play this game. Its one of those games that are actually worth getting the fucking console for.
I dont know if Ive made it clear enough, but you simply have to get this game if you like fun games.

September 25th, 2004 - WOW!
New San Andreas stuff has been released, including a new trailer. All this stuff ownz and needs to be seen. Stop reading this and check the site!!!!
September 25th, 2004 - Lettuce Retrival
Gah, Ive been having the sympthoms of an upcoming cold last half of this week now, so yesterday I took the day off. Im still feeling a bit fucked in the throat, but I seems to be dozing off, so hopefully it wont develop into something big. I just hate this time of year, I always get these small colds around the end of September or start of October.
Ive been giving Star Wars Battlefront, the Star Wars game with the sort of Battlefieldish gameplay a try. Quite nice actually, even though it is very arcady.
And speaking of Star Wars, then Ive aquired the
extra material disc from the recently released DVD boxset. Havent seen all of it yet, but some very interesting and quite cool stuff, so I recommend it if you're into Star Wars.
Oh and check these cool flash movies (at last something funny on Weebls stuff, havent been any in..........uh, a long time).
September 24th, 2004 - Abduction!
Nah, I havent been abducted by Aliens in the in the general way, but I got my Alienware and it fucking r0x!!!! Got it Tuesday, and since then Ive just been installing and getting everything up and running. (hence the delayed update)
Anyway, this computer is so amazing, and its totally worth its money. It looks fucking fantastic, with its extremely kickass design, and awesome light inside the computer makes it look really amazing when you turn off all the light :D!
And the inside of it is even more kickass. It runs everything Ive let at it with terrifying speed, and also Doom 3 runs like a dream in 1280x1024, full detail and with antialiasing on, even though there are some graphical problems some places with shadows (something theres a fix for apparently). Anyway, this computer is pretty much perfect. The only few things I can nag about is the size of the case (it is very large, too large for my desk actually, so I had to put it on the far left side on the desk), and it is perhaps a bit noisy. However, it is a very low frequent noise that you barely notice, compared to my old computer which was EXTREMELY noisy, in the annoying way.
But the best thing about Alienware is that the entire feel of the computer is just so cool. Everything feels so well done and well worked out. For example the manual isnt just some papers, its an actual leather book. Also theres a shit load of small extra things that really make what feels like an already awesome package feel perfect.
Obviously money is a huge factor when you buy an Alienware, but if you have the money, then get one. Everything works like a dream, no problems of any kind, and even though I havent used their support system yet (Good that I havent had to btw :D), then it looks really easy to use, and like they have a very high service quality.
But Im just blabbering on and on now. Fact is that this is the most amazing desktop computer Ive ever seen, and therefore also had :)
So heres a little gallery of the unpacking of the Alienware (step by step through the process of cleaning the room and bringing my little buddy to life :D).
I'll get some more pictures of it turn on in the dark later, but for now these will do :D

we enjoyed building it for you.
YOSH!! MEANS THAT I MIGHT EVEN GET MY
ALIENWARE TOMORROW!
September 19th, 2004 - Duttelut!
Just quick update on the Alienware situation.
I got a mail back from them, and they are gonna
gimme back the money that the computer has lost
in value when they send the computer, very nice
:D
Oh yeah, BING!
September 18th, 2004 - Abut F00kin Time
My Alienware has now (after 3 weeks of
waiting) entered Phase 9, which is the phase where
they actually start building the computer. About
time they also got the Athlon FX-53 and X800 XT
PE (which are such a high demand that they had
to stall the production of the computer). Anyway,
I guess its on track again.
But a thing that really bugged me was the fact
that the computer actually got €250 cheaper
while Ive waited, and that is alot of money considering
that Im not getting anything for it (except for
waiting), so I emailed Alienware and demanded
a compensation for the reduced price. I really
do hope that they are reasonable enough to give
into that, but its really more about the principle
than the actual money.
But its good, I guess I should expect to get the
computer in the next week or two (gah).
Oh yah, been playing more Burnout 3, Sims 2 and
I just got Call of Duty: Allied Assault....uh,
United Offensive (Sorry ;D), all nice stuff.
Oh and check
this, one of the lads at work showed it
to me a couple of weeks ago, forgot to post it,
but now its on Ebaumsworld. BLING!
September 15th, 2004 - Uhmm......YES!

else at the moment. Apart from work then theres
just Burnout 3 and The Sims 2, both awesome games.
Very interesting updates eh? :)

Once again, more movie watching....
Hero
This has to be one of the most best looking
movies Ive seen in a while. The entire movie just
oozes of style. Its got some of the most beautiful
scenes Ive seen in a while and some truely breathtaking
fight scenes.
The movie is set in ancient China where one of
the most powerful warlords is in fear of his security,
after a failed assasination by three lethal assasins,
and demands the death of them. The mysterious
man, going by the name "Nameless" then
arrives, claiming to have killed these assasins,
and therefore gains and audience with the warlord.
Most of the movie is told in some kind of repeating
flashbacks, that change style each time, where
we see how each situation is completely different,
yet it somewhat ends with the same result each
time. These flashbacks use this really cool way
with having different colors (and therefore different
moods) for each flashback. Anyway, the story is
quite good, and it does have a point about the
moral of a warrior, and in the end about the birth
of a unified China, rather than just being all
fights and shit. The fight scenes are however,
quite breathtaking. They do have this Crouching
Tiger Hidden Dragon thing where they can fly around,
so it looks really cool :D!
Apart from looking good then it also sounds good.
Theres some really neat Chinese music going on,
which further improves upon the neat style of
the movie.
Perhaps there isnt as much depth in Hero as it
wants to, it is however a very beautiful and entertaining
movie all the way through.

September 3rd, 2004 - Quink
Been happening stuff at work. We've (the
graphics artists) have moved to some offices now.
Even though only a few of us have moved so far,
then the rest should move in next week. Good to
get a real room instead of sitting out in the
middle of everything, made me a bit paranoid at
times :D. Cool stuff.
Anyway, been thinking about what version of Burnout
3 I should get. My obvious choice would be the
Xbox version (since the Xbox is faster), but apparently
the PS2 version should also be really kickass.
Its the same game obviously, but I just want the
best experience. Anyway, I'll probably end up
getting the Xbox version, probably. Burnout 3
is coming out on September 7th by the way.
Oh and that stuff going that went on in that school
in Russia is just sick. Also Russian has once
again been proven totally fucked in terms of handling
terrorist situations.
August 30th, 2004 - Triffely!
Been watching some more movies and stuff...
Irréversible
This is probably a hard movie to love,
not because it isnt a good movie, but rather because
its a quite disturbing movie. Anyway, the movie
is centered around the rape of a woman, Alex (Monica
Belluci), and we then see how her boyfriend, Marcus
(Vincent Cassel), goes on a quest to find the
rapist and revenge his girlfriend. The movie actually
starts with the end, as in we see how Marcus goes
through a really disturbing and really disgusting
gaybar to find the guy that raped Alex, and already
here theres a pretty yucky scene where a guy gets
his head smashed with a fire extinguisher (Yuck).
The movie then slowly goes backwards, so that
we get some of the events that lead up to the
rape, and came after, and it works really well
(especially with the end of the movie).
The movie is really well put together. Each chapter
of the movie is shot in single clips, which often
lasts around 15 minutes, and its like this throughout
the entire movie, and it really helps you to get
into the movie, and it makes it feel somewhat
more realistic. Also, theres this constant shaking
going on, and the camera is never really still
standing (except during the rape scene and few
other scenes), and it gives the movie this blurry
and uncomfortable feel, but it actually works
really well. The actual rape scene is pretty damn
awful, and like most of the movie it feels really
uncomfortable to watch.
Irréversible is a really well done
movie (well done to succesfully reconstruct horrible
stuff like it does). Also, all the actors do a
really good job at making this feel real, and
even though it might be kind of sad and uncomfortable
to watch then it is worth it.

Theres been a huge lack of posts recently,
Ive been kinda busy and shit, and when Ive finally
been home then I didnt really feel like updating
the site, so yeah :)
Anyway, the biggest thing thats happend recently
(and most annoying), is that my Alienware has
been delayed by at least 2 weeks, since they cant
get their hands on some X800 XT graphics cards
at the moment. This means that I'll have to wait
2-3 weeks before they actually start building
the computer, really annoying shit. Anyway, Im
still not that mad about it, as long as I get
it, and as long as it works well then Im happy.
But still, its a fucking long time to wait :(
Anyway, Im really tired now so Im gonna go to
napz0rland.
More updates and shit soon :)

August 17th, 2004 - More movies
Been watching some more movies...
Van Helsing
This is probably the worst movie I've seen in
a very long time. It's basically just about this
Van Helsing guy that goes around and kill stuff,
and then theres these explosions every 10 sec
to keep you awake.
The story (if you're kind enough to call it a
story) is about Van Helsing killing stuff, and
finally killing Dracula (they try to make the
movie interesting by having all these crappy supernatural
beings in it, which isnt very interesting at all).
Anyway, the action is okay for the first 10 minutes,
then it just gets boring. The special effects
are okay, but you just start getting tired of
em after a while, and beyond that there isnt much
to get out of this movie.
Dont watch this movie.
Van Helsing - 1 out of 5
georfs

21 Grams
Now this movie is something completely different.
21 Grams is about how the fate of three strangers
meet when a traffic accident occurs. The movie
relies alot on its actors, and they all give a
terrific preformance. Jack Jordan (Benicio Del
Toro), the guy that commits the accident. Cristina
Peck (Naomi Watts) as the woman that loses both
her daugthers and her husband in the accident,
and Paul Rivers (Sean Penn) who plays a man with
a heart disease, who gets the heart from Cristina's
husband.
The thing that really binds this together especially
well is the fact that you really feel for each
person. Jack Jordan almost cant live with the
shame of having taken these lives, and since he
plays a very religious person, then this also
brings up doubt in his faith. Cristina Peck almost
cant live with the loss of her family, and Paul
Rivers feels a need to somehow repay Cristina
for her husbands heart.
It is a quite sad movie, but I really liked it.
Also the story is sort of put together in a puzzly
way, where you get something from the present,
yet most of the movie takes place in the past.
Although it required you to follow the plot very
closely, then it worked quite well.
Anyway, a very intelligent movie and certainly
worth a watch.

Been watching some more stuff, checked
out Paycheck the other day...
Paycheck
I gotta admit that Im not that big a
fan of John Woo. He has made some pretty good
movies, but none of them have ever really been
very story based, so this time he tries it off
with a script based on a book by the author of
Blade Runner and Minority Report. Hmmm.
Anyway, Paycheck is about a guy who takes hardware
from competitors, rips the idea and concept and
give it to the company he works for. After each
job his memory is then wiped clean, in order to
make it impossible for anybody to know about this.
Usually these jobs are small gigs that take max
2 months, but his next thing takes 3 years. Anyway,
without spoiling too much, then the movie is basically
about him getting screwed by his employers, and
now hes running from them, yet also trying to
figure out whats going on.
The first half of the movie (little over first
half actually) is really awesome. The story is
really interesting and you just want to know more.
But little over the first half of the movie, it
starts getting kinda sour. It goes into this action
movie mode where it just needs to pull out some
huge explosions and car chases, because it can,
not because it makes it more interesting. Also,
once much of the story is revealed the movie sorta
fell apart for me, and what had started off as
a really awesome movie, turns into something kinda
crappy by the end of the movie.
But its still a pretty good flick, even though
the second half sucks :)

Oh and my Alienware is in Phase

August 13th, 2004 - Review'O'Rama!
Been watching and playing loads of stuff
the last couple of days so I thought I'd do a
bunch of Mazzle reviews thar!
And one thing before I start, Ive added more scores,
so now theres .5 to everything, which means more
precise verdicts! :D!
Scarface
I havent seen this movie before, but now I can
obviously see how much GTA: Vice City has been
inspired by this movie.
Anyway, its basically about some Cuban refugees
who comes to Miami and starts working their way
up the criminal underworld. Al Pachinos preformance
is far from the best in his career, but he's good
as the crazy and humourless Tony.
Overall a really cool movie, its got a really
cool 80s thing going on (since its from 1983 then
I guess that helps ;D), which constantly made
me think about Vice City :D! If you like crime
movies then you should check it out.
Scarface - 4 out of 5 georfs

Matchstick Men
My expectations to this movie were a bit mixed.
Im a huge Ridly Scott fan, but the reviews of
it havent really been all that good.
But I guess this is just another time where I've
learned never to trust anybody but yourself, because
this movie was really kickass. Its about a kinda
messed up con artist, played by Nicholas Cage,
who takes on a big swindle with his partner, but
in between all of this he meets the daughter he
thought didnt exist. Im not gonna reveal too much,
because this movie has some really awesome plot
twists.
Good acting from Nick Cage, Sam Rockwell (Nicks
partner) and Alison Lohman (Nicks Daugther) makes
this movie stick out even better, and proves once
again that Ridly Scott excels in doing kickass
movies, no matter the genre.
Matchstick Men - 4.5 out

Medal of Honor: Frontline
I bet that MOH:F was quite nice when
it was released back in 2002, but today it does
look really dated. Both in terms of visuals, but
also in gameplay terms. The gameplay is really
limited, and its basically just about running
around and shooting everything (and since its
WW2 then you shoot Germans). There is some slight
variation however, such as one level that takes
place on a little minecart (Indiana Jones style),
but apart from that and a few other places, then
it just gets boring after a few levels.
Some of the levels do tend to look quite nice
though, but overall it has this really boring
bland look to it. I know that it might not be
that fair to compared a 2 year old game with the
latest stuff, but even 2 years ago this wouldnt
have been all that great in my opinion.
One part of the game that is really good however
is the audio. MOH:F has some really kickass orchestral
music composed by Michael Giacchino (who has composed
the music for all the Medal of Honor games by
the way). And the music is actually so cool that
it sometimes motivates you to keep playing.
But overall this is a bit of stinker, but if you
pick it up (like I did) for almost nothing, then
I guess you could spend some nice hours playing
it (and listening to the music of course).

Grim Fandango
Ive been feeling too bad about not having
played this game, since everybody Ive talked to
said that its a really amazing game.
Unlike with Matchstick Men, they were right. This
is one of the best Adventure games ever created,
and one of the last good Lucasarts games.
You play Manual "Manny" Calavera, a
travel agent in the land of the dead who messes
up with one client, but soon uncovers a big ring
of corruption around him. So its your job to uncover
everything, and get on your way out of the land
of the dead.
Grim Fandango lives up to the old Lucasarts standard,
by having kickass graphics (even though they are
a tad dated today perhaps, but stylish nonetheless),
top noch voice acting, awesome music, interesting
puzzles and of course some cool humour :D!
Grim Fandango doesnt beat Day of the Tentacles,
Sam & Max and the original Monkey Island games
in my book, but its close, and that means that
its fighting with some of the very best games
ever made.
This is an absoulte must if you like adventure
games.

Oh yah, my Alienware is still in Phase
5 :(
August 13th, 2004 - Yes...
If you're an American and wondering who
to vote for (I hope noone that vists my site is
in doubt at this point, but anyway...)
then this movie should convince you who
NOT to vote for.
Thats the President of the United States,
impressive...
August 11th, 2004 - Go 80s Go!
Been watching lots of The
A-Team and Quantum
Leap recently (with the help of the newgroups,
much love for them by the way). Anyway, really
cool stuff, The A-Team hold up quite well, but
its especially the genius of Mr. T that makes
this series so much worth it. Also some episodes
are quite kickass (all the ones where they arent
doing totally bullshit things that is). Also Quantum
Leap is some cool stuff too. I remember me and
Iceduck being really into this series when it
ran on the Sci-Fi channel, back when they were
still on air here, was really too bad that they
pulled out of Denmark (I dont remember if it was
all Europe or just Scandinvia hmm). Anyway, cool
series, although it also it also seems kinda silly
at times (like with The A-Team). Anyway, if you
havent already checked these series out before,
then I totally recommend it, surely worth a watch
if you got nothing better to do :)
Also my sister is on a vacation here in Denmark
for the next couple of weeks. Her husband will
come sometime next week. Neat stuff~
Oh and my (already) beloved Alienware is in
Phase 5! Pwnd!
August 9th, 2004 - Welcome to your Doom.......3!
Heeey, come on, that title was simply
too good to be used only once (Altered Beast 4
lyef!). Anyway, since nobody has any clue of what
Im talking about then I'll just move onto the
main event...
Doom 3
People have a tendency to whine alot
when their expectations arent met, even when their
expectations come out of nowhere. Thats probably
the case with Doom 3, because apparently alot
of people have been really disapointed with it,
and they probably expected some new revolution
in first person shooters.
Fact is that Doom 3 isnt very original, and is
basically just a primitive shooter. However, Doom
3 is spooky, extremely good looking and packed
with atmosphere unlike any other game. This has
got to be the most spooky game to date. It really
does shock you and has a good grip on the way
it wants to scare you, at least in the start of
the game. The farther you get into the game, the
more the grip loosens. This is to be expected
I guess, since much of the mystery that the first
part of the game has sort of dissolves and just
transform it into more of a shooter rather than
a spooky game :)
Anyway, the story of Doom 3 is basically that
you, a marine soldier, has come to Mars to investigate
some strange shit that has been going on. After
arriving on Mars you then get some time to walk
around and check the place out, then soon after
all Hell brakes loose.......literally :)
But yeah, everything starts fucking up and zombies
and demons start fucking everything up and its
your job to fight through the hordes from hell
to survive and save the world! The actual gameplay
usually work like you're walking around some dark
corridors, just waiting to be attacked from any
place, just getting and tensed up, and then the
attack comes and you start dodging around, taking
out the baddies. This works better than I had
expected, and the action and spooking work better
than I had thought, especially in the start of
the game. The action is cool enough, and tends
to work well even though the game is mainly played
in corridors and tight rooms.
Doom 3 has most of the weapons from the originals
back, with a few new ones added and the sawed
off shotgun removed. One problem that I felt was
perhaps sort of haunting most of the game, was
the fact that the tight corridors usually meant
that the shotgun was the ideal and usually best
choice for most situations, and though the other
weapons were all nice then you never really needed
them more than the shotgun could preform. Its
not really a complaint, but rather that some of
the weapons tended to become perhaps a bit neglected,
at least I felt like that a few times. Another
new addition to Doom 3's gameplay is the PDA where
you can check mails and audio logs from other
peoples PDA's (which you find around the base).
These provide story stuff, codes and stuff like
that.
Anyway, Doom 3's gameplay isnt something you havent
played before, and It doesnt try to do something
new in this aspect. But what it does, it does
quite well. The action tends to get really intense,
and though the AI isnt very smart, then you tend
to get some rather different battles each time
you replay an area. A thing that did annoy me
a bit was the fact that you fought Imps way too
much in Doom 3. There really needed to be some
more variation and perhaps more creatures to fight
instead of Imps, because by the end of the game
you really had grown tired of the Imps, and just
wanted to kill something else. Even though the
original games had loads of Imps, then it would
still have been nice with more enemy variation.
And speaking of enemies, then theres alot of really
cool ones. No spoilers but some of the really
big ones will make you run in fear at first :)
So, the graphics of Doom 3 are unmatched and brilliant,
if you have watched any media from Doom 3 then
you know what I mean. Next!
The audio of this game is almost better than the
graphics. It sounds fucking amazing, and the sound
does alot of the spooky ambience. Just a small
sound can totally put you on the edge, and the
sound serves Doom 3 very well. From the haunting
laughter to the small metal scratching sounds,
the audio side keeps you spooked. Also all of
the voice acting is really well done, even though
the character you play is a mute then everybody
else talks. I really am against this kind of stuff,
but I guess it helps to do things this way if
you dont want your player to have any character,
but why I dont know.
So Doom 3 isnt some groundbraking game that will
make all other previous games' gameplay seem totally
outdated. Its a traditionally shooter, added with
some new elements that mix quite well. Cobbled
with the best graphics in a game to date and with
sound to match, then this is one heck of a game,
that though maybe nothing truely outstanding is
still an amazing game.

August 7th, 2004 - Bite Bite! Scratch Scartch!
Watched Dawn of the Dead earlier
Dawn of the Dead
Ive been getting really tired of these
Zombie/Monster/Horrorish movies lately, but Dawn
of the Dead was actually quite good. Its basically
about Hell being full of dead people, and therefore
they start appearing in the real world, where
they bite and infect others that then become zombies
and so on. Anyway, the movie is about a group
of survivors who are isolated in a Mall where
they first wait for help, but later realize that
they gotta help themselves out.
DotD is pretty predictable but its still got this
creepy feel even in the most peaceful scenes.
Also it does try to build some character on some
of the people that are trapped, and does try to
be a little bit more than just about some people
killing zombies, and it does work quite well (even
though I never really cared much for most of the
people there)
So yeah, even me thats usually really bored by
this kind of movies actually kind of liked it.

Oh and check
this San Andreas preview (one of Gamespot
now weekly previews, pwny stuff!)
August 6th, 2004 - HOLA!
So yeah, I got my 2 week long vacation
going down now, quite nice. Its not that Im like
overly thrilled (I dont really mind going to work
tbh), but tis always nice with a little break
once in a while.
Anyway, check
this movie. Its some totally insane guy
that has completed Half-Life in 51 minutes! Its
totally crazy and has to be seen :)~
August 4th, 2004 - Doomed to pwn!
Doom 3 pwnz! Amazing game to say the
least, Mazzle review whenever I complete it
Oh and it seems that Alienware has finally started
transfering money for my computer, which means
that they should start building it soon. Been
having alot of trouble with getting the money
paid, but its a long and boring story so I'll
spare ya from that.
Oh
and check this really kickass flashgame
July 31st, 2004 - HAWT DIDILI DAMN!
Since the mail I got from Alienware said
that I'd either get a call or a mail from them
then I left my mail and phone on. So anyway, I
got a call from Alienware where they ensured that
what I had ordered was in fact right, and then
they needed me to contact the bank and say that
the money transfer is okay (Since its such a huge
sum of money, then they cant just take it, and
need a permission from the bank). Anyway, the
bank is closed (since its Saturday), so I gotta
wait until Monday before I can talk with the bank.
I am a little worried whether the computer will
actually arrive while I still have my vacation.
Seeing that the money transfer will first take
place on Monday or Tuesday, then there will at
least go 2 weeks before the computer is done,
and then perhaps a couple of more days for the
shipping, and that probably lands it in the end
of my vacation (which is from the 11th August
to the 25th August by the way). Anyway, its not
that big a problem if it doesnt exactly arrive
then, as long as I get it :D!
New San Andreas preview on gamespot,
check
it here
Oh yah, that new Doom 3 Trailer certainly is teh
r0x0r! Check
it here (Gamespot)
Oh and I checked The Bourne Identity
out yesterday
The Bourne Identity
I dont really know what it is, but I
just cant see Matt Damon as an assasin. He just
feels like a grown up school boy, and not very
assasinish. Anyway, he still does quite a good
job in this movie where he plays an assasin that
has an amnesia after an accident, and from here
on we just follow him as he tries to figure out
who he is. Anyway, it has some quite nice action
and its pretty entertaining for the most part,
even though it isnt terribly original.

July 30th, 2004 - The Waiting Game
Ive ordered my Alienware computer, so
now I just gotta wait (although they are gonna
contact me to ensure that isnt some fraud). Anyway,
I hope they will get busy with it soon so I can
donce around with my putar :D!~
Oh and Ive gotten into Newsgroups now, more on
that some other time :D!
July 28th, 2004 - Blablabla
I finally pulled myself together and
got Doom 3 preordered. I was talking with some
of the guys at work about it and they recommened
that I used CDWOW.com,
a site which has extremely cheap prices, and theres
no shipping costs. Sounds almost a bit too good
to be true, but I hope I can get it around the
9th August (which is the release date they have
on their site).
Oh and I ordered Grim Fandango the other day and
it arrived in the mail yesterday. Been wanting
to get that game for ages, good stuff :)~
And Im gonna order my Alienware computer on Friday,
pwny~
July 25th, 2004 - The 64 is near!
Just a quick update. The
Mega 64 site has been updated with info
on the upcoming DVD, being created together with
SomethingAwful.com.
Ive been looking forward to this for quite a while,
so good news :D!
July 24th, 2004 - MAKE IT STOP!!!
First off, new
San Andreas pics and a preview on Gamespot.
Ownage!
Now its time for a little ranting. I am so fucking
tired of these flash movies that desperately try
to be funny. The thing is that with flash movies
you can quickly see when somebody actually had
a funny idea, and also see when people just did
something with the intention of trying to make
it some sort of cult flash movie. It is fucking
pissing me off, and the only thing that pisses
me off even more is the people that just jump
on the wave because some other people find it
funny. I am aware that some people might find
it funny, but I really cant find any sort of humour
in these flash movies.
To be more specific then Im talking about Weebls-stuff.
This is a place where theres like loads of fucking
unfunny movies that people apparently love (the
Badger Badger one, which never was and never will
be funny btw, was from this site). Anyway, none
of these new ones are funny, they are being produced
with the sole purpose of making it for the narrowminded
gits that think something is funny because everybody
else says it is. I know I might have some sort
of highly developed sense of humour, but fact
is that I laugh at good flash movies where there
was a really funny thought behind it.
I used to like the stuff from Weebl, but its gone
sour and isnt funny anymore, and people just dont
get it. I mean sure, everybody has their own sense
of humour, I respect that, but there is nothing
funny in these movies, its just some crap lyrics
with some stupid graphics. Gah!
Anyway, I could go on and on about how I hate
the way the situation of flash movies has gone,
but my point is that some people should think
for themselves instead of just trying to follow
the masses and think something is funny, even
though it isnt.
Btw, this flash from Weebl-stuff called Magical
Trevor is a good example of what I mean.
It isnt fucking funny, its just a situation. Fuck
Im tired of this shit.
Btw note that Weebl
and Bob actually has some funny stuff.
I really liked the original Weebl and Bob.
July 24th, 2004 - Flipperflopflap
I didnt really know what to do so I saw
Hellboy.
Hellboy
Not much to say about this movie really.
Its basically just some demon from hell that was
brought to earth as a child, and has therefore
been sorta tamed into being this demon fighter.
Anyway, some nice action, okay story (The Nazi's
didnt lose the war and are doing all kinds of
paranormal experiments, and are still around in
our present time, which doesnt really make alot
of sense but hell, Nazis are good stuff to kill).
It does however tend to get a bit boring around
the end, but allround then its an okay movie,
nothing special though.

July 23rd, 2004 - Doomilido
I found this this movie(s) on Shacknews
about the history of Doom 3. Some quite nice stuff,
check
it!
Oh, and now Im 100% sure that Im gonna get the
X800 XT :)
July 21st, 2004 - *Sniff*
Gah, I think Im slowly starting to get
a cold. Ive got a really sore throat, and that
usually means that Im gonna wake up snotty the
next morning (Im starting to recognize the sympthoms
:G). I just really hope that I can get past it
without having to take off a couple of days of
work D:!
Anyway, thats all for now (Interesting shit eh?
D:)
Oh yah, Im pretty sure Im gonna get an AMD (wutever,
the fastest thing you can get) and a ATI X800
XT in my Alienware. Pretty sure hmmm.
July 19th, 2004 - Donce Dammit Donce!
Was talking with one of the other mappers
at work (this
is his site btw, free pimpage!) about
iTunes (and Apple stuff in general), and so he
persuaded me into installing iTunes on my computer
at work. I dont know if you remember, but ages
ago my bro installed iTunes on my home computer,
and it TOTALLY fucked up my entire (well organized
mind you) music collection, so I had to spend
a couple of weeks to clean up and reorganize everything.
Anyway, we talked about this, and he said that
you can easily use iTunes without making it mess
all your stuff up. Anyway, its quite funky, but
the best thing about it is that at work, I can
listen to other peoples music when they have iTunes
open. I mean, this is fucking genius! Having the
ability to check out and hear other peoples music
via network is really cool :D
Oh yah, Ive more or less decided on getting a
X800 XT in my Alienware (thats the ATI card in
case you were wondering). Ive been trying to decide
which card to get, and allround I feel that ATI
feels like a better choice. Especially since the
Geforce 6800 Ultra requires a mofo of a power
supply, which most likely means more noise (which
Im trying to avoid this time around).
Anyway, Im planning on ordering the new computer
in the begining of August (so that I'll have the
computer up and running and ready for Doom 3 when
it arrives on August 13th :D).
/me donces into the sunset
July 16th, 2004 - Gamer 4 Life!
Lots of games to look forward to in the
coming months. Been playing a demo of the PS2
version of Burnout
3 at work. Really awesome game, cant wait
to get my hands on that. Its gonna be out in the
end of September, and its certainly one of the
games Im looking most forward to. Also, The
Sims 2. I know lots of people consider
The Sims to be all crap and shit, but in small
doses then I like it. Obviously the people that
play this instead of having a life do have some
problems, but I find it kinda impressive as a
whole. Its kinda fun to make money and buy more
shit, and make stuff work. One problem is that
it always tend to get really linear, but the new
game looks totally incredible, so I hope thats
gonna be the good stuff, end of September with
that one too :)
Oh yah, theres been released some new
movies from Battlefield 2. It does look quite
good, but nothing terribly stunning to be honest.
Check
it if you got Gamespot
Oh and Ive been playing some Codename
Panzers demo, quite nice stuff, you
can get it here
(Man this must suck if you dont have
Gamespot ;D)
mobil spil
July 15th, 2004 - Welcome to your Doom!
Obviously you're already heard that Doom
3 went gold a couple of days ago, so, yeeeah,
cool stuff. It isnt really like Ive been holding
my breath for this one, but Ive really been looking
forward to it. This just means that I gotta get
my new computer very soon in order to play it,
but I guess Ill be fine. I have roughly around
the money I need for the fastest Alienware computer
you can get (which isnt ALX, Im not that stupid/wealthy),
but thing is that Ill use all my money in blow
which does seem kinda extreme perhaps.
Oh yah, my 1941 soundtrack arrived a couple of
days ahead (donno If I updated the site about
it, but I ordered the soundtrack from 1941, JohnnyW
4 life!). Anyway, good stuff, its not so often
that I actually buy music so yeeeeah :)
July 12th, 2004 - Fallout 3 lives!
This
is really good news! I just hope Bethesda
can craft a game worthy of the Fallout name :)~~
July 10th, 2004 - Whriiiiing!
Went to see Spiderman 2 with Iceduckie...
Spiderman 2
And hot damn this movie pwnz! I did have extremely high expectations
for Spiderman 2, but it turned out better than
what anybody could have hoped for. Really amazing
stuff, awesome action scenes, but the thing that
I really like about Spiderman is that he is in
fact just a human, and that hes not this braindead
supernatural being. He has a real personality,
and goes through difficult identity problems,
how when hes not really motivated and his life
as Peter Parker is all fucked up, he doesnt work
well as Spiderman, and I think its totally kickass,
and the exactly right way to make this kinda movie.
This is why pretty much all other comic book based
movies fall to the ground compared to these movies,
Spiderman has depth. Anyway, I dont really know
what to say, its just brilliant. Its got action,
romance, humour, and its just really well made.
You really feel for Peter Parker, and also the
villan of the movie has a real personality, and
you also kinda feel for him as well. Also the
action scenes are truely breathtaking, and the
computer graphics look alot better this time too.
So, this movie is just fantastic. It isnt something
that will make you look upon life in a different
way, but for what could just have been a shallow
action flick then its quite stunning.
Spiderman 2 - 5 out of 5 georfs

July 10th, 2004 - Oh Thievery
Finally got myself pulled together and
I completed Thief: Deadly Shadows...
Thief: Deadly Shadows
Let me first point out (if somebody should
be unaware of this) that I am a HUGE fan of the
Thief games. The original Thief was the first
stealth game where stealth was actually important,
and you life in the game depended on you skills
in avoiding being seen. And you also had alot
of freedom, taking a different approach or path
to what might be a simple task was often possible.
It didnt really have the amount of choices, that
for example Deus Ex had, but it did leave you
some room to think. Anyway, both Thief 1 and 2
are in my book considered to be some of the best
games ever created, and therefore my expectations
for this new game were obviously ridiculiously
high, and although it isnt quite as great as I
had hoped for, then its still a really cool game.
The game is basically about Garrett, a master
thief that is always involved in big things like
saving the world and stuff :). Anyway, this time
around Garrett is involved in a big mysterious
prophecy that the Keepers are investigating (In
short, the Keepers are the guys that Garrett was
once a part off, then he left them and began his
life as a thief instead). In the start of the
game you're on missions involving getting stuff
for the Keepers, but sooner you realize that you
play a bigger part in everything, and that everything
isnt quite as it might have seemed. Anyway, without
spoiling anything, then the story of Thief 3 is
pretty cool.
The graphics in the old Thief games was never
one of its strong points. However they did work
with the game, and that was the most important
thing. In the new game they are using the Unreal
engine (like they did with Deus Ex 2 *guuuuh*).
Since lighting in the Thief games have always
been the core of the gameplay, then the funky
dynamic lighting in Thief 3 is a nice touch. However,
for the most part it the visuals look kinda bland,
and not all that exciting, but it does tend to
look really cool. The problem with the visuals
is that they are way too rough, and seems kinda
rushed. There are however levels that stand out,
and truely look really spooky, and really cool.
One thing that kinda annoyed me was the cutscenes.
In the original Thief games all the cutscenes
were these really impressive animated movies.
There are still some of them in Thief 3, and they
look pretty much as good as they used to, but
they have also added cutscenes using the ingame
graphics (although they are still in movie form),
and these look really crappy to say the least.
I would rather have had only animated movies instead
of this, but I guess you cant have everything.
Overall the graphics of the game mainly look kinda
mediocre, but they do tend to look good with some
places, so its sort of a mixed bag.
The audio has always been important in the Thief
games, its and top noch in Thief 3 as well. All
the voice acting is really good. Lots of the ambient
sounds make the dark city an ever more spooky
place, and the music is in the general Thief series
style. Allround really good stuff.
And then theres the gameplay. Im sorta divided
on this one. They have added the element of having
an entire city that you walk around in between
each mission, to sorta make everything feel more
connected, and make room for some stuff where
you can steal things outside of missions. But
it doesnt work very well though, and after a couple
missions it makes the game kinda boring to be
honest. The idea is cool, but one of the main
points of complaint is that instead of having
everything seamlessly connected, they have these
strange purple portals that you go through when
you have to enter a new area, and it tends to
get really annoying, and sadly they're also in
the regular mission D:! This is obviously because
they cant do a seamlessly connected city with
the Unreal engine, and had to find another way
to do it, and this was probably the only or best
solution. Thing is that I would rather have had
a Thief game without the city parts between the
missions, than with them. They dont add anything
to the game, and they just make the game longer
and less fun. Anyway, the idea is good, its just
kinda crappy executed. Anohter thing that really
bugged me too, was that the AI tends to be really
fucking stupid. Just a small example is that a
guard finds a foe, kills him, then he suddenly
says something like "Somebody killed him,
where did he go!?". It just breaks the illusion
of them being real guards, and makes everything
seem like a joke. Thankfully these small moments
dont happen so often, but they do happen. Overall
the AI is pretty good btw.
Anyway, enough with teh negative shit. Heres the
thing, Thief: Deadly Shadows is a really good
game if you work a little with it. It isnt perfect,
but it has alot of good qualities. Lots of really
cool missions (probably some best in any of the
Thief games), and most importantly then it feels
like a Thief game. This was something that I was
a bit worried about, especially after Deus Ex
2 not feeling like a Deus Ex game. But they got
it right, and it feels like you're playing in
the Thief universe.
It probably is a bit hard to recommend this game
to anybody but fans of the Thief games, but it
is a quite good game, even though you have to
work a bit with it.

July 9th, 2004 - *BING*
Bling bling! I saw Shrek 2 yesterday~~
Shrek 2
Well, first off, Shrek 2 is a really
cool and really funny movie. Its full of new awesome
characters and of course the return of many of
the old ones. The only real problem with Shrek
2 is that it doesnt really feel as rich on ideas
as the first one did. Even though theres loads
of really awesome stuff, then there are also some
small gaps that I thought made it stand out less
good from the first movie. But again, there is
a load of really awesome stuff in Shrek 2. Probably
the most note worthy is a Zorro wannabe cat called
Puss in Boots, which is voiced brilliantly by
Antonio Banderas (his first role ever where he
doesnt suck btw). Also, the visuals of the movie
are topnoch. All the characters look absoultely
kickass, and their body and facial expression
are probably some of the best yet, or at least
they are very pwn :D~
Anyway, the story of the movie is more or less
just a setup for them to do alot of silly stuff,
and overall the movie doesnt really feel as rounded
out and well thought out as the first one did,
but its still really funny and really well made.
/me donces
Shrek 2 - 4 out of 5 georfs

July 7th, 2004 - Filifflecnack (Im running out
of names ;G)
Its funny (by that I mean not funny),
theres this StarCraft cardboard Protoss thing
standing at work, and everytime I walk past it
It makes me wanna play StarCraft :) Anyway, I
decided to stop torturing myself by not playing
it, and I installed it again and played it a bit.
Amazing game (as if I need to say that, everybody
knows that). They just need to make a new StarCraft
RTS game :(
Also, me and some of the lads at work played alot
of Doom 2 via LAN. Really good stuff, incredible
how well it holds up on the fun factor.
Anyway, apart from that then Im playing
some of the shitload of games Ive recently bought.
Oh and Ive gotten my hands on a DVD Rip of Shrek
2, its quite sick how fast these rips get out.
Anyway, nice stuff.
Oh
and Picard totally pwnz you!!!
This is already kinda old, but in case you've
somehow missed it...
