New official Battlefield Vietnam movie! CHECK IT!

February 18th, 2004 - Lets Donce
Im starting to sort of get over the shock of getting the job, so I thought I'd update the site :)

Anyway, I was watching Lost In Translation the other day. It focuses on how two Americans (Bill Murray, as a burned out action movie star doing Whiskey commercials, and Scarlett Johansson as the wife of a busy photographer who is sorta neglecting their marriage) meet and spend a week in what seems like a very foreign Tokyo. But further into the movie, when they start getting out of their hotel rooms, they start to have fun, and start to notice the beauty of what seemed very foreign and strange to begin with. Lost In Translation might move at a bit too slow pace for some people, but I found it very entertaining and interesting. Especially since it also looks at how weird Japanese people sometimes are, especially the scenes where Bill Murrays character is shooting the Whiskey commercials are awesome. Anyway, also a movie that shows that Sofia Coppola (who made the movie) has inherited some of her fathers talent in filmmaking.

I freaking got the job at IO :D! Its "only" just a trainee position, but considering that I still do have alot to learn about some things, then I think its perfect for now.

Gonna go sign some contracts on next Monday, damn this r0x!!! :D!

Oh and to make this post even pwner (cant top the job news tho :D), then Iceduck grabbed some of the TV show that showed some of my video portfolio, you can check the movie here.

February 13th, 2004 - Nutter
Ive been playing the UT2004 demo a bit (if you dont know what Im talking about, then the UT2004 demo was released a couple of days ago). My first impression was extremely negative, the map quality is extremely low compared to UT2003's, and I know its just a demo, but even comparing the UT2003 with UT2004 demo's maps make it look crappy. Anyway, the maps look rushed, considering that I dont respect Unreal mapping at all (anymore), then the fact that the visual side of UT has somehow gotten worse with this new game is beyond me. Dont get me wrong by the way, I think UT2003 is an awesome game, its got some amazing visual qualities, and the gameplay is quite good too (classic stuff, you cant mess that up), but in my opinion UT2004 just doesnt seem like adds enough new stuff, other than the new Onslaught mode with vehicles, and the return of Assault. These new modes are nice, but Onslaught smells like Halo ripoff, and if you have just seen 1 pic of a Halo vehicle the you'll know what I mean. So obviously Epic dig Halos look and they ripped it, fine.

Anyway...

After playing it a bit more (I wanted to make sure I didnt judge it too fast), then I actually started liking it a bit. Of course DM and CTF works well, but after playing it a bit then the other modes started getting a bit more entertaining, but not entertaining as in being extremely well made, but more like entertaining as in a crappy mod thats fun to play. I have no respect for UT2004, but its silly fun. But lets see, they call this a Beta Demo, so the full game might be a bit better. Anyway, if you dont have anything better to do, then download it give it a try.

Anyway, other stuff:

EA is just begging to fuck up bigtime

Thief 3 site launches! :D
(Damn I hope they dont fuck Thief 3 up D:!)

Oh and Battlefield Vietnam is gonna be out in 1 month!!! (March 16th)

February 9th, 2004 - Right
A couple of months ago (end of October 2003) I sent my just completed video portfolio to a danish games n movies program on national TV where they also show stuff made by the users. Now, almost a half year later they showed it, just as I had totally given up on it. Not that it matters now anyway, yet still pretty cool, although the other content made by viewers is a joke to say the least (no h8 plz :D). Anyways, if you havent checked the video portfolio already then you can find it in the maps section, or just check the hi-quality version by clicking here.

Oh yah, the new DC is quite the sex actually. Even though it doesnt add any new maps or vehicles, then the optimizations done to the maps means that it runs ALOT better on lower end computers, and really demanding maps like Urban Siege runs quite well. Anyway, get it.

Oh and I also completed UFO: Enemy Unknown the other day, great game, but actually a tad short when you know the right strategy.

Oh and Ive been doing some modelling and texturing, trying to buckle up on some of my weak points.

Oh...........just wanted to say oh again D:!

February 6th, 2004 - Helloes
The new Desert Combat is supposed to be released today, so thats certainly worth looking forward to, should be out later today

Another thing, I found some pics from a model that the awesome 3DMike did, be sure to check it out (and be owned).

February 4th, 2004 - Cuz Sharing is Caring
Ive been playing quite a bit of UFO: Enemy Unknown (Aka X-Com UFO Defense). As I mentioned earler its an awesome game, so I thought I'd hook everybody else up with it. Check this site, here you can get all the X-Com games (Terror From The Deep and Apocalypse sorta sucks tho, only Enemy Unknown/UFO Defense rocks IMO.

Now play it!!! :D

February 3rd, 2004 - North Korea
I just found out (click here or here) that North Korea actually has a series of concentration/death camps (or rather more like a big one, shatter around a large area), designed to murder and hold those that are against its regime. I can't really say that it surprises me (sadly), North Korea has been fucked up for ages. Something has to be done about this though.

February 2nd, 2004 - Almond
I was in the urge for some old school Microprose gaming last night, so I found my UFO: Enemy Unknown disc and started playing. Even though the game was sorta fucked up in Windows (there were also some new bugs, like battles were instantly won, and scrolling around on the maps is near impossible cuz it moves so fast), then it reminded me that its one of the best Strategy games ever made. And the more you play the game that more you wonder why somebody with the rights for the Microprose games doesnt make a new one (that is good). A new game true to the original instead of trying to make different styles as seen in its sequels. Maybe replacing the turnbased battles with some sort of 1st/3rd person tactical shooter would work quite well if done correctly, i guess it will never happen though *sigh*.

February 1st, 2004 - Acorn
Here's some Xbox2 spec rumorish stuff (dont know how official this is :o )

Oh and I just want to say that I HATE people that use periods in the end of their sentences in IRC. That is all for today :)

Kill Bill Volume 2 teaser is out, you can check it here

Sucks that they changed the release date from Feb/March to April/May/June.

January 26th, 2004 - Tralalala
I dont really know why, but yesterday I got the urge to complete Opposing Force (the addon for HL nub) again, and so I did. I had totally forgotten that Opposing Force was actually released around the same time as CS, and that it came before the entire HL modding craze began. Anyway, holds up quite well, although the visuals seemed alot more impressive back then. Still, one of the best addons ever, just a shame that Gearbox is still making addons/porting games, they got lots of talent that is being wasted (Although I got a feeling they are brewing something of their own up at the moment :D).

Anyway, still no reply from IO, but it seemed like they were very busy atm so I guess I shouldnt read too much into it. I can wait ;)

So anyway, here are some links that MrH2O posted in the core earlier today:

Fart-O-Tron - Fart Soundboard. I was laughing my ass of for a couple of minutes when I first checked this out. I suppose Ive begun Immaturing D:!

I was checking out Pixar.com and I then checked the short movie Luxo Jr. and was reminded of how brilliant it is. The personality the lamps have is a stroke of genius, and its strange that its just now I notice that. Anyway, if you havent seen it (and damn you if you havent!) then check it here

January 22nd, 2004 - Day of days eh? :)
Well, just got back from the job interview at IO. Went quite well actually. Even though they were a bit concerned about my lack of singleplayer mapping experience, and the fact that I didnt do my own textures, then they overall seemed very impressed with my work. Now they are gonna think about it, then contact me again and perhaps set up another interview.

Anyway, the thing is that before the job interview I rated my chances alot lower than after it, so that means that I think I still got a pretty good chance. Besides, learning some scripting and making some textures isnt really all that hard IMO, modelling has been one of my biggest fears for years, and Ive finally learned how to do that. So, all I can do now is just wait and hear what they say :).

January 21st, 2004 - Counting down....
So, tomorrow is the day. In case you didnt know, Im going for a job interview at IO Interactive tomorrow. I must admit that Im starting to get a tad nervous, but after all, it is sorta like an exam, except here I actually know what Im talking about :)

Anyway, I'll be back and updating the situation tomorrow.

January 20th, 2004 - Fenged/Churched!
I was sitting fiddling through some stuff yesterday and I found this really amazing site. The site is called Artbyfeng, and on it you can find loads of concept arts done by Feng Zhu. Pretty much everything you'll find on his site is of amazing quality, and looking on it then I wouldnt mind one bit having him helping me with ideas for maps :D!

Also check this site with work by Ryan Church, another Concept Artist. Again, amazing stuff.

Oh yah, I forgot to mention this the other day but I made a silly Mutated Space Walrus in 3dmax, Ill maybe post some pics here later D:!

January 19th, 2004 - OOOO!
Just thought I'd post this movie where a referee gets punched :)

January 15th, 2004 - Stuntied!
I found this amazing Vice City Tribute movie, it has some really amazing stunts, be sure to check it if you like stuff that pwnz! :D

Also, check these new movies from Splinter Cell 2 (I know It IGN and it sux), looks quite good, I just hope SC2 has better replay value than the original game did.

Oh yah Ive been mapping a bit on my NW map, and its starting to look quite good. More on that later :)

January 13th, 2004 - JIM!
Been mapping a bit on my NW map, its starting to take shape now. Im having some problems keeping my map on the set polylimit (its a large area, and even NW's decided limit looks like it might not be enough. But Im pretty sure I can pop something nice out within the polylimit, just need to fiddle a bit with it :)

Oh and check this, Ebaumsworld > *

January 8th, 2004 - Ma'am
Been a bit short on updates lately, Ill try to avoid that from now on ;)

Yesterday my sister went back to San Diego (USA), so I had to get up like 4 hours before my usual wake up (13:00 D:!). And if that isnt enough then I havent had a good nights sleep for the past couple of days. Still, feels quite empty now with my sister gone, and the fact that she wants to get back to Denmark (or at least away from America) didnt make it easier for her I suppose. Anyway, shes coming back to Denmark in the summer so thats nice.

Ive was playing a bit of Vice City yesterday (all the rumors about what the next GTA game will be made me wanna play some), but it tends to crash alot, maybe its the my new ATi card, i should probably check for a patch or something.

Oh yah, I fiddled a little cave together (didnt take very long make btw, most of the time went compiling). Keep in mind that this is just a test, I wanted to do a cave (and some rather advanced vertex manipulation), and this seemed to work fine. The polycount is around 2000 (and around 1000 of those polys are from the plants). Anyway, here are some pics:

Oh yah, nubs!

Oh and check this

January 5th, 2004 - Commanded & Conquered
First 2004 post ey!

Anyway, Ive been playing quite a bit of Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn (the first and original C&C), and Red Alert (numbar 1!) lately. I started out with GDI in Tiberian Dawn and completed with them fair n' square, but I wanted to speed it up a bit (Ive completed Tiberian Dawn 2 times before, but ages ago), so I cheated a bit. Even though the gameplay remain brilliant, then its especially the cinematic sequences that impress(ed), but its funny how outdated the movies are today. Anyway, the entire atmosphere of the game still remain top noch.
Red Alert holds up a bit better, I cheated alot in it, but some of the RA1 missions are bitches if you dont want to spend a week playing it. Anyway, Ive been wanting to complete these games again for ages, and it feels good to finally have done it.

But enough gaming, Im planning on doing loads of mapping (and maybe some modelling) in the next week or so, expect pics and stuff :)

Oh yah, I just ate a Spanish Salsa Pringles that was totally covered in thick layer of spice :D!

December 29th, 2003 - Good news...
I got an email from IO Interactive (the company that did Hitman and Freedom Fighters, and the company where I sent my portfolio), and they want a job interview with me on January 22!!! BST EVR!!! :D!

Now I just hope that I dont fuck it up D:~

December 26th, 2003 - Jiggles!
Thought I'd update (after all this Xmas thingy stuff).

The last couple of days Ive been watching LOADS of Family Guy. Ive always been a fan of this show, but they never really showed any of the later episodes on danish television (at least to my knowledge they didnt). But on the new Winamp you can watch Family Guy on the Internet TV, and they just show all the episodes looping, it is quite the pwn to say the least. The only problem is that you end up spending the entire day watching it. It is obviously brilliant, and the references to movies and series are always pwny. So if you havent seen all the episodes they've made so far, then I advice you to goto Winamp's website and get the latest Winamp and check some Family Guy.

EEEEEY!

December 24th, 2003 - HOHOHOHO
Merry Christmas.......and stuff :)

December 21st, 2003 - OMAI!
Forgot to mention this, the new Desert Combat is out! Its got loads of new vehicles, choppers and maps! YOU CHECK IT NAU!

December 21st, 2003 - Pievillan!
So, I went to see Lord of the Rings: Return of the King yesterday with Iceduck, Pingu and Reolged (PEEETEYBOY! :D!). Anyway...

By now you should be aware that it is an amazing movie. No matter what review you read, then they all seem to like it, and it is hard not to like ROTK.

The thing that struck me as most impressive about ROTK was simply the visuals of the movie. It looked alot more impressive that the previous movies, and you were constantly left breathless with the amazing visual side of the movie. The CG of ROTK is unmatched, and I doubt that even George Lucas can surpass this with the last Star Wars movie. Of course Gollum is amazingly well done, you regard him as an actual living being after a while, instead of seeing him as CG. Also the huge battles that take place during the movie are spetacular, and this are the most impressive looking battles Ive seen to date, very impressive. Also some of the smaller battles, like when Sam is fighting a giant spider is extremely intense, and you can almost feel the adrenaline flowing through your body :D! Anyway, there are so many impressive things in ROTK, too many to mention, for example a scene where Legolas takes down a giant elephant with loads of troops on top of it in a sort of nest thing.

Anyway, overall the entire movie is brilliant, and in my opinion perhaps the best LOTR movie, simply for the glorious battles, but also the story in general seems quite nice :D. The movie does however (in my opinion) have some weaknesses. First off, the most obvious one is the end. Im not gonna spoil anything, but I just thought that it was far too farstrecthed, and what took like 20 minutes could easily have been boiled down to 5 min, and make an already EXTREMELY long movie a bit shorter. But with that said, most of the movie is very intense, and the ending tones this down and this is maybe the effect that Peter Jackson wanted. Also, its probably hard to end something as fantastic as the LOTR trilogy. Another thing that I found perhaps a bit irretating was the overuse of tears throughout the movie. The thing where its a sad scene and you can see tears flowing out was working in the start of the movie, but near the end it just lost its effect, and I started getting a bit annoyed over it.

But with that said, then it is an amazing movie, its not (like many reviewers have said) the best movie ever made, but its certainly an enjoyable and breathtaking piece of cinematic art. And the fact alone that during the 3 hour and 20 minute long movie you never really feel bored (except for the end perhaps), means that this is something very special indeed.

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King - 5 out of 5 georfs

(Btw, dont take the fact that 5 out of 5 says "BST FUCKING EVR!" too literally, ROTK just doesnt deserve "VERY GOO!" ;D)

December 20th, 2003 - Oh Chosen!
I didnt mention this earlier (Oh silly me!), but Ive been playing LOADS of Fallout 2 lately (the last 3 days). I had a really serious urge to play some RPG a couple of days ago, and I started off with Baldurs Gate 2, but in the end I went on and played Fallout 2 (since its ages since I completed it the last time). So yeah, after 3 days of playing Ive completed it again, amazing game, without a doubt a classic.

Oh yah, and I went shopping and bought some stuff today so........yeah.

Oh, and this guy got BALLS!

December 18th, 2003 - Return of the Hype
Damn time goes by fast at the moment! Feels like the start of December was only 2 days ago, its nearly Christmas now D:!

Anyway, Im gonna go see Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King on Saturday. Its been getting amazing reviews, but I dont really know if Im in a LOTR mood right now, but I guess I will get in the mood if the movie is as good as people say. I'll be back with the Mazzle verdict once Ive seen it :)

Btw, sign this petition to make the world bettar.....please!

December 16th, 2003 - HiHiHiHitman
Theres been released a trailer from Hitman 3: Contracts

You can grab a Divx version of it here (13mb)

It doesnt show any ingame stuff, but its some nice prerender shit, very smooth shit :D!

December 13th, 2003 - Sheeeepie
Poor litt0l sheep D:!

Oh and btw, I checked a movie from a game called Full Spectrum Warrior, a game where you control some small squads of soldiers and it appears to be insanely realistic, since it was originally designed as a training sim for the american army, looks quite the sex. Note: You can find the movie i was talking about here

December 11th, 2003 - 72? :)
I downloaded all the episodes (7 episodes) of 24 - Season 3 yesterday, and i watched them today. The first couple of episodes were pretty good, but it really takes off around episode 6 and 7 (episode 7 is the latest one). Im not gonna spoil anything, but it suddenly got alot more interesting when you just thought it was gonna continue in the sort of same line as the earlier episodes in season 3. Anyway, since they dont show season 3 here (yet), then Im forced to downloading the episodes from IRC everytime they are grabbed. But 24 is so worth it, and I think Im once again hooked on it, now theres only 17 hours left, I wonder whats going to happen next :)

Oh, and check this movie

December 9th, 2003 - Hah!
I recently got a hold of Deus Ex: Invisible War (Deus Ex 2), and I just completed it

This game is probably the biggest disappointment this year. Ive been following the progress on this game fairly well, and thought it looked pretty good (especially since Im a HUGE fan of the original Deus Ex). But as with lots of sequels these days, Deus Ex: Invisible War just doesnt deliver, and in fact, it makes the first game look alot better, even after all these years.

Anyway...

I'll start with the visuals since this is one of the few aspects of the game that are actually semi-good. As with the first Deus Ex, DE:IW is set in a mysterious and pretty dark world, but this time its got a fancy lighting system. Think along the lines of Doom3, dynamic light-sourcing, and shadows casting nicely over the surface of objects. This provides with a sometimes really cool look, but it usually also leaves you with totally dark areas, with very little lighting, if any at all. This is a shame, because if this pretty sophisticated lighting system was used properly, they could have made some really interesting areas, with some really neat lighting, but for the most part you just have boring dark rooms with a pretty lame atmosphere, and it just seems like they rushed the adjustment of lighting, and made most areas totally dark. Apart from the fancy lighting you also got bumpmapping on loads of surfaces, and this works pretty well for the most part. It gives everything a plasticy look, but it works pretty well on stones and surfaces that actually have depth. DE:IW also has (as many other games have today) physics implemented, but everything seems like its weightless, so the physics make something that look pretty stupid already, look even more stupid. The leveldesign in this game is pretty crappy too. Most levels look like they were slammed together in about 10 minutes, and none of the levels really feel like a real place, it just feels like a small closed off area you're meant to play in, very much unlike the original Deus Ex, where you felt like you were playing in a big world.

The audio side of DE:IW is generally pretty good. The music sort of reminds you of the pretty cool music found in the original Deus Ex, and the remix of the Deus Ex theme is cool too. The voice acting is pretty decent for the most part, but some of it is pretty crappy, and it just sounds like somebody who's talking into a microphone, rather than somebody thats having a conversation.

And now the gameplay. The main thing that made the first Deus Ex really exciting and interesting, was the way you could handle problems in different ways. This is back in DE:IW, but this time, doing things differently doesnt really feel very satisfying. In the first Deus Ex you were almost rewarded when you were stealthy, and silently went around, instead of just going for the direct confrontation by just blasting your way through the levels. In DE:IW you never really feel like theres anything satisfying by doing things in stealth, especially since the enemies are fucking easy to take down, even on the higher difficulties. The AI is pretty horrible, so you can pretty much just take out everything with one shot from your sniper rifle. But it seems to me that they realized this in the last minute, and took out some of the ammo to make it a bit harder to go berserk on everything, it doesnt really do that though, and you can blast your way through the game in no time. Anyway, as i said earlier the levels are pretty boring visually, and they are also boring gameplay wise. The first game had some pretty visually boring levels, but they were all fun, you cant really say the same for DE:IW, the leveldesign is pretty bad in every aspect. To make it even worse, DE:IW is also extremely short, especially compared to its prequel, which was a really long game.

Another thing that made the original Deus Ex such an amazing game was its story. It had loads of conspiracy theories and shit like that, and it worked amazingly well. The original game had depth, the story worked really well to keep your interested, and to keep you wanting to find out more. DE:IW tries to do this, but fails horribly. The problems is that you never really care about anything in the game, you never really feel any depth in the story. It feels so shallow that you get the feeling it was only thought out in a few seconds, rather than being thought through, and in the end this makes DE:IW feel really boring and empty. This is especially frustrating for a huge Deus Ex fan like myself, since the original game left off with what could bring an awesome sequel. But the result is an empty game that has no depth, and has no way of keeping you interested in completing the game. The game also feels rushed. It doesnt feel like they have spend much time making it work very well, everything seems like it was done to get done, not because it had a purpose for the game.

It saddens me to see Warren Spector fuck up like this, Im a huge fan of his games, and I wonder how a game where he's been invovled could get this fucked up, its sad, and I hope that Warren will strike back and get back with something good.

So in conclusion: This is the worst game released this year, it might have some visual qualities that might catch your attention, but when look under its shallow surface, a boring, uninteresting, undeveloped and seriously flawed game is revealed.

The horror...the horror!

This one is especially scary D:!

December 1st, 2003 - Grape
As I mentioned in the last post Ive got Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and I just completed it.

The first thing you're gonna notice about this game is that it looks absoultely gorgeous. This is without a doubt the best looking game out at the moment. The game is set in an middle eastern castle, so you got loads of great looking bathes with sunbeams shining down, stunning gardens, underground caves with waterfalls, huge rooms with loads of details and more in that style. Also, the game has this really cool looking blurry look to it, that makes everything look almost like a dream, but also makes it look really hot, its quite teh sex to say the least.

The gameplay of Sands of Time is what you would expect from a Prince of Persia game, yet alot more intense than the previous games (im excluding POP3D, since it sucked). It is without a doubt one of the most intense platform games ever made, and you cant play through this game without getting your hands all sweaty at least a couple of times. Most of the gameplay is in an exploration part, where you swing around, jump around, hang around (and fall around sometimes). This part of the game is the best, mainly because its here the game is most intense, and its just a joy to watch the prince swinging around a couple of hundred meters over the ground. This part of the game is amazing, and it some of the best platform action ever. Also, since you get "The Dagger of Time", you are able to turn back time when you fuck up, which means that you can undo the errors that are bound to happen. This is awesome and makes the game alot more enjoyable actually. But even with the dagger then it can get a bit frustrating when you cant figure out what to do, and the dagger only got a few "rewinds", so its not like you can undo everything you do.

In Sands of Time you also fight, this part of the game is less succesful than the platform part of the game. Even though all the enemies you fight are Sand monsters (in the start of the game you accidently turn everybody in the castle to sand monster *eek*) that are fucking slow, then the combat tends to get a bit hard, and also a bit boring, and even the awesome moves the prince has in combat cant make this better. Thankfully however, the combat seems to get a bit easier when you get further into the game.

The audio side of Sands of Time is pretty good too. Its got some cool music that is sort of like a mix of rock and middle eastern music, which works really well in the combat. Overall the music in the game is good, and the sounds and voiceacting is really well done as well.

So overall Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a really good game. But it does tend to get a bit frustrating when you cant figure something out, or when you keep fucking up in the same fights over and over, then it tends to get a bit tiresome. That said, this is one of the best platformers Ive ever tried.

First off, Ive completed Knights of the Old Republic. Amazing game, and in my book one of the best games of all time. It is unmatched in RPG's, its simply a stunning experience to play through. And here is, at last, a game that takes time to complete. I hate the fact that games these days can be completed in a day or two, its a sad state gaming is in, good thing there are games like KOTOR that take time to complete (and also remains topnoch throughout the entire game too). And another thing, the story in this game was actually good. The stories in games these days are usually pretty weak, but KOTORs story was full of surprises you possibly couldnt have guessed. Anyway, I think Ill complete the game on the dark side (as in being mean and evil :D) soon.

Okay, Ive got a reply (email) from IO, and they say that they will check the portfolio in around a month, since they are busy at the moment. And just so you know, this isnt your standard machine reply, I do believe they are gonna check it when they get the time. And besides, from what I know then they are moving at the moment(office change), so no wonder it might be a tad messy to go through job applications now. Anyway, Ill be waiting for that reply :)

Oh and last, Ive gotten a hold of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Im around halfways through the game, Ill give a review on that soon. Oh, and Im planning on doing some Nightwatch mapping when Im done with Prince of Persia, so its once again time to heat up Worldcraft and prepare for some mappage :)

Oxifap!

November 28th, 2003 - Viet*nam*nam*
Theres a new movie from Battlefield Vietnam, its looking quite the sex (although the movie is a bit pointless perhaps :D), you can grab it here

Oh, and Knights of the Old Republic fucking ownz! (like you didnt know that already D:!)

November 26th, 2003 - Here we go!
Just came home from the post office (you know, where you send snail mail), was there to send the Portfolio Disc I've been working on for the last couple of months. I really hope they are at least gonna check it out and reply me, I guess thats the least you can ask when you're spend the amount of time on it that I have. Anyway, all I can do now is wait, and see if I get a reply :). If that fails then its just onto the next company, although IO is on the top of my "want-to-work-there-list". Anyway, enough blabbering!

I recently got a hold of a game Ive been dying to try out since I heard of it. Its Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

First off, If you dont know what KOTOR is (and damn you if you dont!), then its basically a mix of the Star Wars universe, with a much improved version of Baldurs Gate. But even comparing KOTOR to a brilliant game like Baldurs Gate seems unfair for Baldurs Gate. KOTOR is one of the best RPG's Ive ever tried. It is quite amazing, and the use of the Star Wars universe is brilliant.

The graphics (even though some people have had problems running the game) are great, and runs pretty smooth considering how good it looks. Theres nothing quite like walking through a big Star Wars city where you can see spaceplane traffic n the horizon, with huge building all over the place. It looks quite fantastic. Also the indoor areas got a real Star Wars feeling, all the characters look great, and lights (and lightsabers) make this cool glow that makes it look quite smoking! :D!

The sound side of KOTOR is in many ways even better than the visuals. The music is great, and it isnt just a reuse of the now classical John Williams music, but a new score that sets the mood of the game extremely well. Another thing that you will notice right away is that the voice acting is done EXTREMELY well. I almost cant think of a game that has this good voice acting, and even all the aliens got their original voices (they dont speak perfect english like you would have thoughts ;D!), it is quite amazing. The sounds from all the weapons and enviroments are topnoch too, the weapons sound like Star Wars weaponry. Overall the sound side is some of the best Ive heard in a really long while.

And then we have the gameplay. The gameplay keeps reminding me of Baldurs Gate (which isnt odd since its BioWare that has developed KOTOR), but its also much improved over the BG gameplay. The RPG side of the game is like you would expect, you start with some quests, then you walk around exploring the world, finding clues ans such, and the world in which you play is HUGE! There are like 8 planets you can visit, and each of them are basically large enough to be a game of its own. Its amazing. The combat (which is one of the things Ive always been a little annoyed with in BG) is quite simple, and pretty fun to watch as well. In the game you eventually become a Jedi (of course :D), and here you start getting force powers which are basically just magic powers. Overall the gameplay has everything you'd want in a BioWare RPG, and it successfully combines that with the Star Wars universe, and that makes out one heck of a game.

So, Knights of the Old Republic is without a doubt one of the best games of this year, and one of the best RPG's ever made, this is a must have for RPG fans!

(Dont worry im not gonna end by saying "May the force with you!" ;D)

I got a hold of XIII, that cellshaded first person shooter, and I just completed it. Overall as a game experience Im pretty disapointed, especially since the demo was really kickass.

The graphics of XIII arent really all that great. It seems to me that since they are using cellshading they thought that they could just get away with using extremely simple leveldesign and models and hide it with cellshading. The leveldesign looks pretty good in a few maps, but overall it just looks plain and boring.

The sound is pretty good, the music has a nice beat to it and it sets the mood for action. The voice acting is pretty well done too.

The gameplay isnt anything special. Its standard shooter gameplay and there are no real surprises in the gameplay and it will get boring when you near the end of the game. Most first person shooters today try to make a little variation in the gameplay, but XIII doesnt do anything new, and doesnt make it anything you havent already played a million times before

The story of XIII is pretty good. Its nothing special but it keeps your interest better than the simple gameplay. Its full of conspiracy stuff, so thats nice. What isnt nice is the ending which is extremely disapointing. I wont spoil it (in case somebody actually plays this game), but it leaves with a sort of cliffhanger ending, but without making you really interested.

Overall a pretty boring and unoriginal game, but i suppose its good to kill a couple of hours with.

November 22nd, 2003 - God of what?
I got myself hooked up with the Deus Ex 2 demo (can be obtained over at Fileplanet). The demo is technically pretty impressive, its got alot of nice effects and physics, but overall it doesnt really seem very well made, since the level design is pretty bad , and actually, if it wasnt for the effects then it would be a joke. Another thing that annoyed me was the interface. In Deus Ex 1 the interface was a bit chunky, but it worked really well. In DE2 its almost confusing, and the inventory screen gets pretty annoying since you sometimes dont have any idea of what you're doing. But i can see that they are trying to simplify it, so i guess i should give them credit for that :D. Anyway, the gameplay seems to be okay, it doesnt really feel like Deus Ex 1, but who said it would? :). Overall I see potential in it, but Im not as excited about it as I used to. I really hope the full game is better than the demo.

November 21st, 2003 - Guns, lots of guns :B

November 19th, 2003 - Gimme sum sweet speed!
Ive got a hold of Need For Speed: Underground, quite a tasty race game. NFSU is basically your standard NFS game, only this time its only set in an urban setting.

Visually its one of the best looking racing games for the PC to date, it looks very fappable to say the least. The game has this weird, yet really cool blurry look that gives it a quite unique appeal. It also makes the speed (which of course is what NFS is all about) seem alot more intense and fast. You really feel like you're speeding through the streets like a rocket. Also, NFSU is filled with wet roads that reflect the streets and make it look fantastic. The sound is quite cool too, theres alot of cool bands supplying the music for NFSU, and they are (of course) all actionpacked tracks that makes the action even more intense.

The only real thing I dont like about NFSU is that fact that you're basically playing the same levels over and over with some minor adjustments, and it simply gets too boring after a while. The levels are good but not even the cool gameplay can overshadow this problem. But still, overall NFSU is an awesome game, and the best game to capture the feeling of fast racing.

November 18th, 2003 - Bad Boys
Just wanted to do a quick update. I just saw Bad Boys 2 with Iceduck (actually its a couple of hours ago, but nm). Anyway, you should know the drill with this kind of movie, its Jerry Bruckheimer so a meaningful story is not a possibility. Anyway. Bad Boys 2 actually isnt all that bad for a Jerry Bruckheimer flick, the action (which its got lots of) is usually really good, and it better be since this is the main selling point of the movie. The comedy between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence is being kept to a minimum in BB2 (or else it just doesnt work as well as it did in some places of Bad Boys 1). One thing that kept suprising me was the amount of gore and violence in BB2, and usually it takes alot to get my attention concerning this.

Anyway, the movie is entertaining, but it does make you wonder if all that killing and murdering was really necessary to make a good action movie. But still, if you want action and nothing else, then Bad Boys 2 should deliver it with lots of explosions and blood (or sumthing)

November 12th, 2003 - Radeonized
I forgot to update the site yesterday, but I also got a Radeon 9600 Pro from Iceduck :D! Really slick shit, my computer has become like 3 times faster in games! Where i used to get like 900 points in 3dmark03 with my old Geforce3, I get way over 3000 on this new card! Also, I can now run games like Max Payne 2 with full detail and 6x AA without it slowing down at all! :D! Overall its made this computer kick ass again, so it should be good for another year or so.

Oh yah, i watched all the Indiana Jones movies yesterday +bonus material, really kewl shit ;D!

November 11th, 2003 - Happy birthday to me... ;)
Hehe, itsa my birthday! :D! So yeah, Im 19 now (guh, so old D:!), so yeah. Anyway, so far Ive gotten some Pringles, some socks (i really need socks actually, only got like 1 good pair left D:!) and the Indiana Jones DVD Boxset, real slick shit. My birthday will be celebrated on Saturday tho, since its more wellsuited for the family there. Anyway, flappitidap!

And to celebrate my birthday I actually give you a gift, remember that TS map video I released a couple of weeks ago? Im gonna release the full portfolio movie today! :D!

Note: Both these movies require Windows Media Player 9

November 10th, 2003 - Hmmm (*Contain slight Revolutions spoilers*)
Ive been reading alot of interpertations of Matrix Revolutions (or rather the entire trilogy). I now understand it (the way Im interpertating it that is, i guess there is no real interpertation since the Wackowski brothers want to keep quiet :D), and with this in mind then the end of Revolutions isnt really all that bad. The way i first saw it was alot more happy and ignorant, but the way i see it now its very unhappy, and i would say its the perfect end in a way. It ends like it begins.

If you thought Revolutions was a bit of a fuckup at some points and want to understand it better, then i suggest reading some of these interpertations i found in a topic on the IMDB forums. Theres a fuckoff long post that made great sense, and overall these should help if you're confused (usually Im good at this shit, but Revolutions seemed too shallow on the story at some points, so i had to find out what other people thought D:). You can check the topic here

November 9th, 2003 - Revolutionary?
So, Ive now seen Matrix Revolutions. My expectations were sorta cloudy, since I had heard the movie was a disaster.

First off, Matrix Revolutions is a great movie, it is entertaining and actionpacked for most of the movie.......until the movie reach the last 15-10 minutes. Around this time it just fucks up everything and pulls out this really stupid and disapointing ending. It must be hard to make a good ending to a trilogy so brilliant, but the ending is just plain stupid and illogical. Only a naive and ignorant person can draw pleasure from the "ending" Revolutions exits with. Enough said about the ending, I hope I havent spoiled anything. Another bad thing about Revolution is that it does a very poor job at closing off the loose ends Reloaded left. It smooths out practically none of them, and it even adds some illogical things that make the movie fall apart in certain places. Anyway, that was the bad stuff, the good thing is that everything else in Matrix Revolutions is great. Theres some cool action scenes and awesome CG (some of the best Ive seen yet, very nice shit). There is a certain lack of philosophical content in Revolutions, especially since Reloaded left you with loads of things to think about, but i guess thats a part of the "ending".

Matrix Revolutions isnt really a bad movie, its great fun until the end. It does a very bad job at ending an otherwise perfect trilogy, but having that said, it still stands pretty good as an entertaining movie, and it stands stronger since the previous movies were so excelent, but the ending does make this a bit of failure.

November 8th, 2003 - Maxing my Max
Been giving 3D Studio Max alot of attention the last couple of days, and Ive made some really neat stuff, Ill lets these pictures speak for themselves :)

Redrum
1 - 2 - 3

Thats all for now :)

November 5th, 2003 - Hmmmm...
Revolutions has been getting some rather average reviews, I dont hope its as big a fuck up as some reviews say it is. Apparently it should be quite short on the philosophical stuff, and apparently it doesnt tie together the loose ends from Reloaded. I donno, I usually dont trust too much on reviews, but the fact is that most reviews look the same, so maybe theres something about it. Anyway, lots of reviews said Reloaded sucked, so I guess ill keep hope up :D

By the way, Ive gotten a hold of Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour, the addon. Been playing it a bit (only around 30min tho), but it seems quite funky, ill get back on that later.

Oh btw, you NEED to check this movie, its hilarious beyond words!

November 3rd, 2003 - Piccklecrop!
Been playing quite a bit of Call of Duty Multiplayer lately, really cool shit actually. Its basically either CS styled gameplay or (Team)Deathmatch, but its still quite entertaining, been playing most of the day and Im not tired of it yet. Its got some really well designed maps as well, that sort of piece together some of the stuff from the Singleplayer part of the game in some cool MP maps. The only real problem is that on some maps there are some serious sniper problems (you get extremely paranoid in fear of getting sniped :D!), but its no biggy, and overall the MP part of COD is really well done and should keep this game alive for a while.

Anyway, Ive decided to release two of my TS maps. You can get them at the mapspots (ts_loaded and ts_crystal).

Oh, and under a week until I get to see Revolutions (next Sunday!)

November 1st, 2003 - Call of Dutinzed!
Before I talk about Call of Duty, then I just want to make clear that Im now mapping for the extremely sexy HL SP mod, Nightwatch.

So, Ive got a hold of Call of Duty and Ive completed it.

First off, the graphics in COD are quite funky. They do however vary from map to map. Some maps are really slick, but some are a bit boring. But alround it looks good, with some awesome explosions, and some very memorable and original levels. The nature/outside stuff is quite wellmade, and since you're almost always outside then you will notice this. Its got some pretty good water too.

On the audio side COD is cool too. The music is very Band of Brotherish/MOHAAish/SPRish/Thought id pop in another slash :D! Anyway, the music is good, the orchestral music gives it a certain feeling of being a movie. The voicework in COD is good too, especially the brits are quite funny (gotta love those wacky brits :D!). But even though the germans do speak german, then the russians speak english, sort of stupid if you ask me, but i guess it helps to make things more simple (english = goodguys, german = badguys).

The gameplay is quite good too. If you have played MOHAA then you know what to expect, its basically the same thing just improved alot. But where MOHAA was a bit boring since it was more traditional in the ways of a first person shooter, COD is successful in being different by having alot of missions that take place on moving vehicles where you have to be the gunner. These missions work very well and provides some extra life to what could have been a pretty standard game. Overall the gameplay is good, but it isnt really anything you havent seen before.

So in conclussion: Call of Duty is in no way original, its basically following the formula that made MOHAA great (by the way, Infitity Ward that made COD consists of ex-2015 folks - the guys that did MOHAA). It does however improve and expand the concept of MOHAA and makes itself unique by being alot better than MOHAA.

October 31st, 2003 - Robot fingars D:!
Check this silly link, quite the funny ;)~

Oh, and Alien Vs Predator teaser is out, doesnt really show anything, the idea of making a movie based on that concept is sorta meh in my opinion.

October 30th, 2003 - Tralalala stuff
First off, a new promo video for Desert Combat 0.5 has been released, you can get it here

Now, Ive decided to make a sorta like rating based system for the small reviews i do of games, movies and that kinda stuff in general. I'll have a bar under the review that ranks from 1-5 georf's (actually also 0 if thats needed). 1 is bad, 5 is good.

Heres some examples :)

5 out of 5

0 out of 5

Note: Ive cut off some of the news and popped them into another archive. That shit can be reached on the bottom of this page.

October 29th, 2003 - Chairness!

October 28th, 2003 - Yakklecack!
Ive been a bit off the track with the updates recently, Ill try and update more frequently. Anyway, Ive been working on my movie and its done now (actually its been done for a couple of days now, but Im fiddling with codecs n shit, trying to get the best quality stuff). I'll get the movie uploaded soon (although its basically the same stuff as the previous one, just with ns_mazion and dod_custard, the final movie is quite pwn. Im planning on using the movie as a demoreel for the stuff im gonna send to some companys and shit, but more about shit some other time. Today I mailed the final of the movie to a pretty popular danish program, so if they show my stuff then there should be some über pimpage :D!

Oh yah, Call of Duty is near, that game looks pretty cool (demo 2 is out btw)

Also, little under two weeks until Im gonna see Matrix Revolutions! :D!
/me pets November 9th!

Oh, and check this quiz thingy (thought i'd put a link here, its so boring wiff no orange links! :D!). I fucked up on it wiff like 9 out of 10, im a pervert (apparently)

October 25th, 2003 - Keel Beel
Just came back from the cinema and from Kill Bill. Really cool movie. The entire feel of Kill Bill is really sweet, and you're totally absorbed into the movie right from the begining. Even though the plot of Kill Bill is really simple (Uma Thurman killing everything :D), then the movie pulls it off by being full of style and humour. And theres lots of humour, this is more of a comedy than an action really. If you dont find it funny when blood just sprays out from arms, legs and heads that has been cut off, then you wont understand this movie. There isnt much dialogue in Kill Bill (which you might expect from a Tarantino movie), but it doesnt really matter, since the style of the movie requires more action than talk. The action is of course awesome, watching how arms, legs and heads fly off has never been this fun, it is the best action flick Ive seen in quite a while, really awesome stuff.

So all in all, really cool shit, Tarantino has pulled off what i thought was a bit of a gamble at first, and the result is an unoriginal movie thats original for that reason alone. You need to see Kill Bill if you havent already, and if you have, then the wait for Volume 2 has begun, 3-4 months wait *sigh*

October 24th, 2003 - HOLA!
Thought Id update since the site has been a bit thin on updates lately. The movie Im doing should be done soon, Im still fiddling with some of the music, trying to find some that match better, should have it ready pretty soon.

Oh yah, Kill Bill is near. Me, Iceduck and Pingu are gonna go watch it on Saturday (it premieres tomorrow here in Denmark). Im really excited about it, and my expectations are quite high (high for action that is :D!). It sounds really sweet so Im all flappery about that :D!

October 21st, 2003 - Map movie stuff
Im currently making a video portfolio/demo reel, but since Im already done with the part of it that shows the TS maps then I thought I'd up em so people could check it :)

You can get a large version of the movie here

You can get a small version of the movie here

You can get the mazy logo sequence here
(not added in the 2 movies above, but will be in the final :D)

October 16th, 2003 - The Payne love!
Let me start off by just saying that Max Payne 2 is without a doubt the best game that has been released in 2003.

First off, the graphics are amazing! It looks so good that I couldnt concentrate on the actual game the first 15 minutes when I was playing, It is extremely impressive to say the least. Its not that its set in an absurdly original setting, but it is done so well and so beautifully that you feel drawn into the world, it feels real. But as that wasnt enough, then its got Havok physics, which is the thing that makes it perfect. The first Max Payne had the amazement effect on you the first time you played that too (at least it did for me back in 2001), but after you played it for a while the drawn-in feeling faded away, since small glitches in the illusion of reality were coming to your attention, and as you progressed through the game, the drawn-in feeling that i felt got lost. However, the physics in Max Payne 2 makes it complete, it feels right, and it feels like the ultimate playground you would want in a game like this, and it adds so much to the feeling of playing in a place that feels like it could be real. The visuals are the best in a game to date. Period.

The audio side of Max Payne 2 is as stunning as the visuals. The voicework is (as it was in the first Max Payne) some of the best in any games. From Max Payne (voiced excelently by James McCaffey, same as in MP1 btw :D), to old ladies in apartment buildings, to funky TV shows, everything is perfect. The music is also awesome. Some of the music sounds more or less like cool variations of stuff from Max Payne 1, but there is also other great music to intensify the action or to soothe romantic scenes ;D. Also, the ambient sound makes the ambience in this game perfect. When combined with the amazing visuals it just oozes of genius. The sound side of the game is topnoch, pretty much impossible to perfect even more.

And now, the game. If you have played Max Payne 1 you'll know what to expect. Its action gaming when its best, and with the Havok physics it IS the best. Further combined with Bullettime 2.0, that not only looks freaking cool with a blurry look to it, its also gameplay wise different. When your bullettime bar reaches a yellow state, you can walk at almost normal speed, but your oppenents are at a slower bullettime. It works really well, and since you only get it at certain times (when you for example kill lotsa stuff) then it doesnt get overused. Another thing that should be mentioned about bullettime is that you dont have to kill people in Max Payne 2 to get more bullettime, it slowly fills up even when you're not killing. It might sound stupid, but it works really well, and it makes you use bullettime alot more (which makes the game alot more fun :D). The gameplay is brilliant, anybody with an urge for action will be satisfied beyond words with Max Payne 2.

And now, ive reached the thing that could pop out lots of spoilers: The story (dont worry i wont). It is, as with the first Max Payne, really good. The script/dialog is really well written and everything Max says makes you think, some stuff is deep, almost philosophical stuff, and it gives the game a good look from all the killing too.
Also, the way the game/story is told is really cool, it feels cool the way the way the game is told with use of flashbacks and getting back to the present. I think its better that I dont talk too much about the story, since I can easily upset people, but its good and on par with the rest of the game.

So, this game is somewhere around perfect, the only complaint I have about the game (and it really is the only one), is the fact that the game is too short. It took me around 7-9 hours to complete it, and considering that it constantly stopped up to admire the game and notice details, then its pretty damn short. But the addition of physics makes the action different everytime you reenter a room, and should provide the game with more
