Making a ladder - by Mazy
The first thing you do when you create ladders, is to make the main shape of your
ladder (32w 2l 84h). In this example, i will use the "{LADDER2"
texture, which will fit good into our little ladder
Note: textures with "{" infront of them can become transparent trough the blue
in the texture, if you make it and entity, and select the correct options.
Here is our current ladder:
 Ignore
the blue in the texture, this will (as i said earlier on) become transparent, so that you
can look trough it. Now we must make the texture see-trough-able (stupid word :D). Select
the ladder brush, and make it an entity, right clicking on it, and taking the "Tie
to Entity", or by just Cntl-T. Now, choose func_wall
in the drop-down menu, and set the current options in it:
Render mode: Solid
FX Amount: 255
Now you will be able you see trough the ladder, but by compiling your map, you will notice
that you can't climb the ladder. This is the next task.
Create a other brush, which has the exact same size, as your original ladder brush (32w
2l 84h)
Put the "AAAtrigger" texture on it. Now make this brush, a
ladder entity, by Cntl-T, and picking func_ladder. Now
you have to place the new brush infront of the func_wall, and you got
your finished ladder.
It should look kinda like this:
